College Competitions

Harvard Pre-Collegiate Economics Challenge

The HPEC challenges students through a series of individual and team rounds on economics knowledge at the AP Micro and Macroeconomic levels as well as numerous other economics subjects. Teams will consist of 1-4 people take a written test to seed 64 teams who make it to the quiz bowl round and then a winner is crowned.

Stanford Pre-Collegiate Economics Competition

Similar to the Harvard Pre-Collegiate Economics Challenge, Stanfords Pre-Collegiate Economics Competition is a prestigious competition for high school students who are interested in economics. This is the first year they are running this challenge so more information will be updated as we get closer to the competition.

Ithaca College High School Investment Competition

Sponsored by Ithaca College, the Ithaca College High School Investment Competition consists of teams of 3-6 high school students are given $1,000,000 in virtual U.S. dollars to invest over a two-week period. At the end of the time period, teams with the highest amount of money in their portfolio will win prizes up to $3,000!

National Competitions

EconBowl

Sponsored by YEI(Youth Economics Initiative), this competition consists of a preliminary round and a final quiz bowl round. The preliminary round is a written multiple choice test, where students have 45 minutes to complete 50 questions. The top 4 teams will move on to the quiz bowl round where teams will buzz in to answer 19 calculation and non-calculation questions. Teams can win prizes up to $750! Young Investors Society Global Stock Pitch Competition

The Young Investors Society Global Stock Pitch Competition is a competition that provides participants with investment and financial skills. Teams of up to two work to create a “best stock idea” and analyze public companies. Students write a report of whether to buy or sell the companies, and they defend their report in front of industry professionals. Students earn money and gain invaluable knowledge regarding economics, business, teamwork, and communication. Blue Ocean Entrepreneurship Competition

The Blue Ocean Entrepreneurship Competition is a tournament hosted by alumnus of Centennial High School and is considered the most prestigious high school economics competition in the world. Entreaprenurs from around the world pitch their business ideas to professionals by creating a short video presenting their ideas.
